Mentorship Circles
Small groups of four youth are matched with one trained adult mentor for weekly check-ins, goal-setting, and honest conversation that lasts all the way through high school.
Louisville, Kentucky
Brighter Path Foundation connects kids across Louisville's West End with a trained mentor, a warm meal, and a plan for what comes after graduation. Since 2014 we've walked alongside families in Portland, Russell, California, and Shawnee — one relationship at a time.
What We Do
Every family who joins Brighter Path enters through one of these doors — and most stay connected to more than one, because mentorship works best when it's backed by tutoring, food security, and a clear plan for the future.

Free after-school tutoring in reading and math runs Monday through Thursday at three neighborhood sites, staffed by certified teachers and college-student volunteers.
Juniors and seniors get one-on-one coaching through FAFSA paperwork, campus tours across Kentucky, and a scholarship search that has unlocked over $2.1M in aid.
Every Friday, mentee families take home a bag of shelf-stable groceries and fresh produce sourced from Louisville-area farms, so hunger never gets in the way of homework.
Our Story
Brighter Path Foundation began in 2014 when a handful of Louisville public school teachers started tutoring students in a church basement on Portland Avenue after noticing how many kids had nowhere safe to land between the last bell and dinnertime.
Twelve years later, that single room has grown into a staff of eighteen and a volunteer bench of more than 300 neighbors, coaches, and retirees who show up week after week. We still believe the work starts with relationship, not curriculum — every program we run exists to put one more trustworthy adult in a kid's corner.
In Their Words
None of this works without the families who trust us and the volunteers who keep showing up. Here's what a few of them told us this year.
“My son's mentor, Mr. Dre, has picked him up every Tuesday for two years straight. He's not just tutoring — he's the reason my son believes he's going somewhere.”
“I did Homework Harbor from sixth grade all the way to graduation. Now I'm studying nursing at Bellarmine, and I still come back on Fridays to help with the food bags.”
“I retired from teaching and thought I was done with classrooms. Brighter Path proved me wrong — one hour a week with my mentee is the best part of my schedule.”
We have more kids on our waitlist than mentors on our roster. It takes one hour a week and a two-year commitment to change the shape of a child's next decade.
